If He were to ask you for it and press you, you will withhold and He will bring forth your hatred.
View 78 More Translations ↓[for,] if He were to demand of you all of them, and urge you, you would niggardly cling [to them], and so He would [but] bring out your moral failings
If He asks you for them, and presses you, you are niggardly, and He brings to light your rancour
If He were to ask you for all of them, and press you, ye would covetously withhold, and He would bring out all your ill-feeling
إِن یَسۡءَلۡكُمُوهَا فَیُحۡفِكُمۡ تَبۡخَلُوا۟ وَیُخۡرِجۡ أَضۡغَـٰنَكُمۡ ٣٧
in yasalkumūhā fayuḥ'fikum tabkhalū wayukh'rij aḍghānaku
